Scene: Open and airy, DuBay's is casual yet sophisticated. The lounge is roomy if there is a wait for a table, and it's smoke-free through dinner. It also has Wi-Fi, if a laptop must be opened during lunch, happy hour or dinner.

Review from Juice's 2 Drinks

If you've been in this bar in its previous incarnations, especially the 25th Street Cafe, the dark wood, dim lighting and modern art feels familiar.

A black bar stretches to the front window, where you can look out at students walking through Drake's campus. My boyfriend and I took seats at the bar right in front of a huge flat screen TV showing a Cubs game.

High top tables and cushy booths fill the rest of the bar, which opens into a restaurant serving Cajun food.

"I felt like a walking comment card since this place opened," our personal, professional and quick-witted server said with a laugh (and just the right tone) as we gave her some feedback on a salad at DuBay's.

Well, send the notes back to the kitchen, I wanted to say, because a pretty good restaurant could be a very good one with some fine-tuning.
